Shri Ram Janaki Temple Trust
Gursahaiganj
History of the Trust
The Shri Ramchandra Ji Maharaj Virajman Temple Pangawan Trust, Gursahaiganj, was established on 17 March 1882 by two real brothers, Seth Chiraujilal and Ummed Rao.
They had no children and owned zamindari land in Pangawan Mauja and a neel (indigo) factory in Gursahaiganj, where the Ram Janaki Temple was also located.
As they had no heirs, they donated their entire property to the temple. The Trust Deed was written by the District Judge of Farrukhabad, on the basis of which the trust functions today.
Initially, six trustees were nominated by the District Judge. Due to disputes among them, a court case (Case No. 01 of 1911: Banwari Lal & Others vs. Ulfat Rai & Others) was filed in 1911. In 1912, the six trustees were removed and a new administrative arrangement was created.
Under this system, the District Magistrate was appointed as the Chairman of the Trust, along with three trustees nominated by him.
